Eastleigh Aikido Course

Every year in February, Eastleigh Aikido Club hosts a course open to the Aikido world. This course will be hosted hosted at Knightwood Leisure Centre and runs all Saturday and Sunday morning. A broad selection of Aikido styles are taught ranging from Sport Aikido to more Traditional styles of Aikido.

Please email us if you are interested in attending.

Pensilva Spring School

Usually on the weekend of the last bank holiday in May, Pensilva Aikido Club hosts a four day course. The course consists of 3 and a half days covering the width and breadth of Aikido with an optional grading on the last day. This course is well attended every year by a large contingent of members staying in a local farmhouse bed and breakfast. The course is a cunning blend of top notch Aikido, an excellent social on and off the mat all topped off with a switch half of the local paint brush cleaner.

Skenfrith Spring School

On this holiday weekend, Skenfrith Aikido Club also holds another excellent four day course. This course is an annual pilgrimage by club members of Eastleigh Aikido Club staying in a local bed and breakfast. Weather depending there is an option "jog" up the local testing ground - Mount Skerrid - a stout pair of trainers and a strong pair of lungs is certainly required! After many hours hard training during the day the evenings are spent socialising and generally undoing the good work with the aid of a local pint or three. One of the annual club traditions is a curry evening, usually in Hereford. Generally the curry is on the night before the grading just to keep people on their toes.

Leeds Summer School

The Leeds Summer School runs for 5 days (Wednesday to Sunday) on either the last week of July or the first week of August every year. This course is run and organised by Bob Jones and has been running for over 20 years. The course has instructors from all walks of Aikido including stars such as (in no particular order!) Vince Sumpter, Frank Lord, Phil Bird, Bob Jones, Vanda Fairchild and Dave Fielding.

Annual French Exchange

In the April of every year there is an exchange with Montivilliers Aikido students and their families. This exchange is two way - each year taking it in turn to visit the other side of the Channel. The training takes place on Saturday afternoon at with socialising in the evening. Sunday morning is spent with the families touring the local highlights before the ferry trip home.

Training with Tsuchia Sensei

For the last few years a handful of us have been travelling to France in November to train with Tsuchia Sensei in Paris. We travel on the Friday night ferry to train Saturday afternoon with a social event in the evening. Return travel is Sunday evening with after training Sunday morning.
